Extreme retina damage can lead to macular degeneration, which can cause vision loss over time. 

Apple and Samsung have incorporated a night mode setting into their electronic devices, which allows users to darken the screen past the lowest level of brightness. It was designed to limit your nighttime amount of blue light by providing warm yellow light to relax our eyes. Interestingly enough, recent studies show that night mode may be just as bad, if not worse, than standard blue light when it comes to your sleep cycle. 

How Can You Protect Your Eyes?

Thankfully, there are some ways to protect yourself from eye strain and other harmful effects of blue light. You can start by lessening your daily screen time to give your eyes a break. While we are accustomed to using our digital devices throughout the day, it’s helpful to discontinue screen use a half-hour to an hour before bed.
