Is the Google Pixel 6 Right for You?

In the market for an extra smart smartphone? Google’s new Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro feature a Tensor chip that offers next-level skills. If you’re deciding whether or not the Google Pixel 6 fits your needs, we can help! Here’s what we know about the latest flagship phone and what type of user it suits.

New Pixel Phone: Features and Specs

Although Apple and Samsung have dominated the space in recent years, the new Pixel comes jam-packed with features that compete with the latest iPhone and Galaxy models. While some of the model’s features are expected of a Google phone, the device’s in-house designed system-on-chip has given it a new lease on performance.

The Tensor Chip

Google’s Tensor chip for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro marks a significant step in their move to compete with the other tech giants. For years, Apple has benefited from creating the brains of their machines across everything from iPhones to Macs. Google’s step in this direction allows them to blend their hardware, software, and AI more seamlessly for a better user experience.

So, what can you expect from the Google Tensor chip? The biggest shift will come in voice features, with smoother (and faster) translation, dictation, captioning, and commands.

Looking at the new Pixels, you’ll notice a couple of significant design changes. In addition to the black camera bar strip added to the back of the phone, there are several new colors to choose from. The thin bezels around the display create a sleek and modern take on previous Pixel phones.

The Google Pixel 6 Pro has a 6.7-inch QHD+ LTPO screen, while the base model features a slightly smaller 6.4-inch FHD+ screen. With either device, you’ll get the crisp display the flagship phones are known for.

Camera

Pixel phones have long been known for their camera abilities, and the 6 models are no exception. Like the Pixel 4 and 5, the Pixel 6 comes with two rear lenses, one main camera and another ultra-wide, while the Pixel 6 Pro gets an extra telephoto lens. Of course, they both feature a selfie camera as well. The 6 Pro gets 11.1-megapixels here, while the 6 has an 8-megapixel sensor.

In addition to these souped-up specs, you can expect significantly better quality than the Google Pixel 5, thanks to the larger sensor and new chipset. These new features improve computational photography for the device, meaning better picture and video quality for users.

Battery Life

The Pixel 6 Pro is packed with a 5,000mAh battery, while the Pixel 6 features a 4,614mAh variation. With those specs, you can rest assured that your phone will last on even your longest days. Plus, faster wireless charging means that you can get back up and running in no time if you do find yourself out of juice.

Other Features to Note

Still not sure if the Google Pixel 6 line is right for you? The devices also come equipped with the following features:

  • Android 12 operating system
  • Wireless fast charging, adaptive battery, and Extreme Battery Saver features to keep you going all day
  • Real-time chat translation across 55 languages
  • Up to 256GB on the Pixel 6 and 512GB of storage on the Pro model
